The Discover Dallowgill History Project

05 Dec 2019

The Discover Dallowgill History Project was established in 2012, to unearth the area’s rich heritage, and create an archive of historical material of the community of Dallowgill, which is available to all. It also serves as a means of helping people interested in researching their family history. Visiting Dallowgill today, it’s hard to imagine that it wasn't until the late 19th Century that people from Dallowgill regularly travelled to the surrounding villages and towns. This was because there were a wide variety of trades and businesses in Dallowgill itself. Today it is a diverse thriving community, with farming still at its heart, set in beautiful scenery, and with plenty of history that we would like to rediscover. The website
www.dallowgill.org.uk has a lot of material that we have collected and transcribed, making it easy for people to search for information, but we do have lots more, which is available to view at meetings. We get together at 3.00pm on the 2nd Sunday of the month, after the Methodist Service in Greygarth Chapel – not every month, but meetings are in the local newspaper and on the events calendar of this website. All are very welcome.
